We are delighted to welcome Aidan and Joyce O’Hara from Ireland back into our fold. Aidan came from Ireland during the 1970s to study folklore and cultural geography at Memorial University, St. John’s. He did major fieldwork in the Irish communities of Freshwater Valley, St. John’s and on the Cape Shore. Aidan subsequently formed the Irish Newfoundland Association in 1976, and the same year was a leading organiser of the first Newfoundland Folk Festival, held in Bannerman Park. Since returning to Ireland in 1978 he has had a very successful career in broadcasting and writing and has continued to promote the Irish-Newfoundland connection with acclaimed internationally recognized television and radio programmes. He’s also written a book in Irish about the Newfoundland Irish. Above all, he loves to make music with friends. Please join us for an evening of music and song with the likes of Joe Byrne, Deborah Clarke, Pamela Morgan, Fergus O’Byrne, Aidan & Joyce O’Hara, Nadine Hollett, Jim Payne, Len Penton, Gordon Quinton, Neil Rosenberg, Linda Slade, Terri Thomson, Gerry Strong, Don Walsh and other special guests.
