Leah has been playing the violin since the age of eight and quickly realized she favored lively, traditional fiddle music. She loves to perform tunes that get her audience clapping, tapping and enjoying themselves. She has been taking lessons at Soulful Sounds with Valerie Hewson for the last four years. She has played in the traditional strings category at the Kiwanis Music festival for the last two years, gaining a new appreciation for traditional Newfoundland music, and was motivated by performances of her peers. Leah continued to study the art of traditional music by presenting and performing a heritage fair project which featured Rufus Guinchard. Leah’s passion for music is evident through various dance styles she studies in an intensive dance division.
