Abigale

Website

We are pleased to Abigale open the Festival with the singing of the Ode to Newfoundland.

It hits you instantly when you hear 14-year-old Abigale. Her voice comes from a different time and place. She sings with an honesty and wisdom way beyond her years. Her inspirations run to pure folk and old school country and she glows talking about Bob Dylan, Hank Williams and the Carter Family. Of course, she also lives in a world where cute boys and Pretty Little Liars are on her personal playlist. But, somehow Abigale is recollection of things past and those yet to come.

She grew up in Hodge’s Cove, Newfoundland, population of 200 souls. For Abigale, there is the closeness of the community and the constancy of the sea. And self-entertaining. Performing at every event in town, writing songs and singing harmonies with younger sister Jordyn.

Her Album, Country True is an exciting start to a career and even inspired Abigale to start using her middle name as her identity. “I just felt like I am a new me. Every time I write and perform I want to be really dedicated to being a unique artist. I am super happy being Abigale.” The record features a wide range of Newfoundland’s finest musicians including Carole Bestvater of High Lonesome and Geoff Panting of Rawlins Cross.
