Guitarist/vocalist Darrell Cooper has been performing contemporary blues in his hometown of St.John’s since 1992.
By age 21, Cooper was an established sideman, accompanying international blues artists like Dutch Mason and Cheryl Lescom. As a solo act and band leader, he has supported George Thorogood, Jeff Healey, and Tom Cochrane, and shared the stage with renowned blues artist Tony D at the Byward Blues Fest in Ottawa and Great Big Sea at the Juno Awards. In 2003 he was awarded MusicNL Blues Artist of the year.
In 2005, Cooper spent several years working as a touring technician for the Sam Roberts Band, but has returned to focus on his love of creating and performing music. A new album is in the works, steeped in the tradition of blues, fused with R&B, and scheduled for release early 2020.
