Matilda Goldie is 14 and has been playing the violin since she was four and the fiddle since she was six. She has played with the STEP fiddlers since she was seven, has taken fiddle lessons from Karen Hawkins and Emilia Bartellas and studies violin with Nancy Dahn. She has played solo sets on the Neil Murray stage each year since she was seven. At the 2014 St. John’s Kiwanis Festival she was awarded the Kevin Neary Memorial Award for best 10-and-under fiddle performance and the Maurice Wilansky Memorial Award for an outstanding performance by a violinist. As a singer, she performed in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017 in the Best Kind Productions musical theatre shows in Bowring Park. At the 2016 Toronto Kiwanis Festival she was awarded a Kiwanis Foundation Scholarship for Violin Performance.
