Mi’kmaw musician and composer Paul Pike, from Corner Brook, Newfoundland. Paul is the singer/songwriter for the award winning contemporary First Nations rock band Medicine Dream. Based out of Anchorage Alaska, Medicine Dream released three recordings internationally, two with canyon records and one independently. Pike lived in Alaska for 25 years, and returned home in 2015 to be close to his family, friends and the land he is so much a part of. Paul toured most of the United States, and in 2000 he toured Ireland with Medicine Dream.
Since moving back home, Paul became the Director for Community and Cultural Programming for the People Of The Dawn Indigenous Friendship Centre in Stephenville. Music remains his first love, as well as sharing Indigenous Music, and helping other Musicians compose their own style of Indigenous Music. Sharing the ongoing story of the Ktaqmkuk Mi’kmaw People is at the core of Paul’s passion to create and perform.
Paul continues to be an active recording artist and engineer, having provided music for film and other projects: Romancing the Labrador, a film by Muin Jij productions –Jerry Evans, and Eleanor McCain’s recording for Canada’s Songbook Project.
