Sevillanas is a type of folk music and dance of the Sevilla region of Spain. It was derived from the Seguidilla, an old Castilian folk music and dance genre, becoming influenced by Flamenco in the nineteenth century. Vanessa Cardoso is a Multidisciplinary artist hailing from Brazil and has led theatre and flamenco dance instruction to kids and adults since 2013. She will lead a family-friendly workshop for all ages, teaching some basic Sevillanas dance steps, while also providing a background to the cultural significance and relevance of this style of dance to that region.
Fernando Abraham Vargas Hernandez was born in Mexico City, and started studying guitar at an early age. He holds a Bachelor of Music, with Honours, from ENM-UNAM and a Master of Music Performance from MUN. He has performed at multiple international music festivals and will provide the flamenco guitar music for the workshop.
