Makeda is a fiddle player from St. John’s, NL. She’s been playing since the age of 3 years old, and has spent time learning both classical and traditional music.
A familiar face at local traditional music sessions, Luke Mercer has played at numerous events
throughout the province including the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival, Young Folk at the Hall,
Eastport Accordion Festival, and the George Street Festival. Luke was proud to be the opening act for a
sold-out High Kings show at Holy Heart Theatre and had the opportunity to write and perform a song
with his band the Salt Beef Junkies on the Season Two premiere of the HGTV show “Rock Solid Builds”.
Luke sings and plays a wide range of instruments including accordion, guitar, harmonica, and mandolin
and is proud to volunteer at local seniors’ homes and various fundraising events.
A grade eight student at Paradise Intermediate, Luke is always excited to play music and loves bringing
smiles to people’s faces.

Juliette has been playing the accordion since the age of 8 and has performed at the Folk Festival on the Neil Murray Stage and as part of the opening ceremonies, leading eh Ode in both French and English. A regular at Young Folk at the Hall, the French Community Centre and as an opening artist for the City of St. John’s Harborside Park, her repertoire is mostly Irish influenced folk music.
Isaac Andrews Power is a 17 year old musician from St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador whose main interests lie in fiddle and electronic music. Isaac has been playing fiddle for ten years, and has been producing music in Ableton Live for five, but also enjoys bouncing into other instruments and styles.
Emmajane is a multi-instrumental singer-songwriter who writes songs from the heart. A gifted vocalist, Emmajane plays guitar, mandolin and ukulele, and enjoys exploring music in the folk and pop genres. She has appeared in local theatre productions including Sidewalk Dandelion (Shallaway/Kyle McDavid) and I Forgive You (Artistic Fraud). Emmajane has performed on the Neil Murray Stage at the NL Folk Festival, the City Concert Series at Harbourside Park and the Newfound Talent Contest as well as singing as part of the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra’s Big Ticket concert. She also performed during the “Youth Market” at the Farmer’s Market, and opened for Baraka and Drives the Common Man at “Songs & Stories for Youth” at the First Light Centre.
Charla Woodford is a 15-year-old singer from Torbay. From a very young age, Charla showed a passion for music and has since performed on various stages including the Burin Peninsula Folk Festival, City Youth Talent Show, Traditional Coffee House Open Mic Night, Young Folk at the Hall as well as competed in the Newfound Talent Contest. Charla has been performing at The Once Christmas Shows since she was 5 years old and in December 2022 she had the honor of sharing the stage with The Ennis Sisters.
During Covid, Charla formed a ukelele group for youth where she gave lessons and directed 2 annual ukelele concerts for family and friends. She has been a member of the Shallaway Youth Choir for the past 3 years and plays guitar, ukelele and piano.
