Folk Fest

Volunteer at the 2026 NL Folk Festival!

This year’s Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival is a little different—and that makes our volunteers more important than ever.

On Saturday, August 8, we’ll gather in Bannerman Park for a special one-day event called The Annual Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival  49 ½.While this year’s event is smaller in scale, it represents an important step toward our 50th anniversary celebration, and we simply couldn’t make it happen without an incredible team of volunteers.

Because the festival is free this year, we won’t be offering our usual volunteer perks — volunteers will receive a special Festival Volunteer T-Shirt and an invite to an appreciaton event.

As a volunteer, we ask that you dedicate approximately 4 hours over the course of the festival day.

While this year’s festival won’t include some of our usual volunteer roles—such as beer tent, instrument check, or box office, we still have a variety of opportunities available. On the application form, you can indicate the areas that interest you most, and we’ll do our best to match you with your preferred role.

Some training will be provided for certain positions, however please detail any relevant experience in the appropriate section of the form.

Please note that volunteers must be at least 14 years of age. (There are no positions involving alcohol service this year.)

This year, more than ever, volunteering is an act of belief in the future of the Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival. We know that everyone who signs up is doing so because they care deeply about this festival and what it means to our community. Thank you – we are truly grateful for your support.

To volunteer, please fill out the Volunteer Application Form below. Our Volunteer Coordinator will get in touch with you as soon as possible.
