Welcome to the 2020 Digital Edition of the Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival!
Beginning on Thursday July 16th, we will premiere a new episode every week right here on our website. Each episode will only be available to view for one week.
Throughout the rest of the summer, we will be sharing performances from some fantastic musicians, as well as storytelling, dance, young performers, interviews, and archival footage. Keep joining us each week for a brand new episode.

Welcome to the fourth episode of The Newfoundland and Labrador Folk Festival 2020 Digital Edition, presented by Equinor.
The Instrumental Traditions episode features a workshop titled “New Tunes – Building the Tradition” creating new music in the traditional genre. The workshop is made up of 4 innovative musicians: Gerry Strong, Billy Sutton, Graham Wells, and Maria Cherwick.
This episode will also feature Benny McCarthy from Ireland, a Bodhrán lesson from Fergus O’Byrne, a lesson in Greek Folk Dance from DanceNL, and a Spotlight on African roots from Sarfest! Plus youth performers Aine Waterhouse and Annie Lewis, and Luke Mercer.
Please note, this episode will be removed at 8:00pm NL time on August 13th. Episode Five will be available in its place at 8:30pm NL time.
