The Broadside

The Broadside is our weekly livestream, coming at you via Facebook and Youtube on Monday nights. The name comes from our print newsletter from “back in the day” which itself was a nod to even earlier ways of publishing ballads, songs, and stories.

These shows are free, however you can support the cause by subscribing to our You Tube channel, inviting friends to the shows and of course, all donations are gratefully accepted! You can even sponsor an episode if you like, just get in touch.

So tune in Monday nights at 8:00 pm, Newfoundland Standard Time, 7:30 in Labrador!

We are so pleased to present some of this excellent material on the Broadside in advance of the show opening later this week. Thanks to Pamela, Petrina and Ruth for stopping by on an evening of epic wind and rain…seems somewhat fitting….

Song Seekers follows the incredible journey of Elisabeth Bristol Greenleaf and Grace Yarrow Mansfield, two remarkable women who played a pivotal role in collecting and preserving Newfoundland’s rich folk music traditions in the 1920s. SONG SEEKERS weaves the narrative of Greenleaf and Mansfield’s adventures with performances of classic folk songs from our province’s esteemed canon.

The Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Arts Society acknowledges and appreciates the support of the Province of Newfoundland and Labrador and ArtsNL, as well as the Horwood Law Group and Canadian A/V.
