The Old Contemporaries

The Old Contemporaries is a folk/roots project in St. John’s made up of a group of friends from varying musical backgrounds, gathering around a microphone to find their distinct sound as a stringband. The group began casually as a trio of singers (Andrew Laite, Josh Sandu & Adam Smith) with a shared passion for harmony, spending time learning each other’s favourite songs to offer an eclectic mix of styles and arrangements. With the addition of fiddle and upright bass (Maria Cherwick, Josh Ward), the group has since been designing a dynamic sound with the intention of sharing a selection of quality songs, both old and new.
